Will Barack Obama play the Sarah Palin card? It's no longer the risk Democrats once believed. And it might be his best chance to dampen a late-breaking GOP surge.

Not only should Obama play the Palin card, he should smack it out of the park by tying her keynote address to the radical, terrorist organization the Alaskan Independence Party that wants to secede from the US.

Palin was the ultimate "oops, shot myself in the foot" move for John McCain. I know dozens of staunch Republicans who were aghast when McCain picked Palin (and after meeting her ONCE in person, yet)! All of them have indicated she changed their vote from McCain to Obama ... and these are Republicans because they cannot stand the Dems tax-the-rich to give-to-the-poor socialistic attitudes. McCain will lose almost solely because he chose Palin (who is a currupt small-town back-fence politician itching for a shot at the brass ring)! Choosing her made all of us question McCain's ability to make intelligent choices about anything! McCain's only hope at this point is to jettison Palin and select someone palatable (as in capable) ... and even the he risks looking like he can't hold to a choice. Either way, I'm terrified to have to say, Obama and his unholy team (including the corrupt thief who was fired from FEMA for mismanagement and likely embezzelment, yet now heads up Obama's economic policy team) will be in charge of our fates for 4 years.

You know history tries to teach us lessons but we don't pay attention. I recall in 1959 a well spoken, charming, and intelligent lawyer who drew crowds of thousands. His message was to help people get their fair share. He was a member of the social democrat party. That was CUBA in the early 60's. Take a look at Cuba now and Venezuela. I think when the US starts to change its ideology from a free enterprise to a country where a person can default on loans and stay in their homes, bailout banks, or create a national healthplans, then you all should start figure when American capitalism died? I bring patient to the US from countries with socialized care. They will tell you it doesn't work. I think your country needs to learn a hard lesson.

The guy who wrote this is obviously a talentless cracksmoking hack. Sarah Palin is by far more qualified to be President than Barrack Obama, as is John McCain, as is Joe Biden. A first-term Senator who spent the better part of the last 1.5 years campaigning hardly has the experience to manage anything, let alone the greatest country in the world. If he is elected the US will be the laughing stock of the world, more so than with W.
Dan - "sharp cookie"?? Hardly. Hypocrite more like it. Quick on her feet perhaps, but not her wits.
- 23 votes
Uh, Dan, I beg to differ.... Palin is NOT as sharp a cookie as you think. Maybe she's a cookie cutter gone awry, though; just snipping here and there without any true form or design in mind.
The only ones who have already sunk are McCain-Palin with their ill-advised, fear-inciting, hate-mongering campaign. THEY are the ones who've permitted their campaign to sink down to the dregs. C'mon. Who is anyone kidding??
And Dave... to assert that Palin has more brains than Obama and Biden combined is an outrageous, erroneous claim. What news clips and interviews have YOU been watching? She is an overly ambitious, underqualified puppet. She's like a pretty parrot perched in her guilded, protected Republican cage; repeating the same refrain over and over without knowing the words' meanings or the repercussions to issue therefrom.
And Dave: since when are Democrats' faces all ugly? Sheesh. What a meritless comment.

There is nothing impressive about the McCain-Palin ticket that doesn't make me laugh out loud.

"A late GOP surge" - What is this guy talking about? Over the weekend, the RCP poll of polls margin had shrunk from 8 points for Obama to around 5 points. This week, it's expanded back to 7 points in favor of Obama. Palin's cartoon performance on SNL (you would think a hunter like Pailn would know a trap when she saw it) and Powell's summary dismissal of her on Sunday probably played a role in the "surge" by Obama. I have no doubt there will be a late GOP surge before this is over, as we haven't seen close to their worst tactics, but it ain't happening right now.

I love how the democrats are siting there loving the whole Obama/Biden thing. But if you guys think back to when this all started, and Biden himself was running for president, he distinctly said that Obama does not have to qualifications to run this country. So it seems to me that Biden just wants to be in office, and he'll get there any way he can. He doesn't seem very supportive if he says that when he was still in the running, and then as soon as he got booted out, he's kissing his feet. This whole election has become like a sick reality show. Biden has the experience. I will agree with that, but it doesn't mean i should have to agree with his political views or his tactics to get into the white house. Barack Obama was in his senatorial position for 4 MONTHS before he left to campaign for president. Does america really want someone leading their country who's only had 4 MONTHS of experience? It's like suicide on our part.
Palin is not running for president...she's running as vice president!! I really wish people would just stop acting like she's the one, and focus on McCain. Sarah Palin has been in politics for nearly 20 YEARS now, and I think she would do a fine job as vice president, even president if need be. She's well spoken, and knows what it takes. Her personal life has nothing to do with her political game. There are plenty of pregnant 17 year old girls out there, and just because her daughter is one of them should make no difference. It has nothing to do with her. That was her daughters choice.
So people, put everything aside and take a look at the big picture: EXPERIENCE OR OBAMA??

I mistrust Sen. Obama for being a benjamin of reverend Wright! Im also appalled at his tyrannic character off screen. It came out yesterday, when he forbade his own people from contributing ideas: "No! We don't want your ideas, we just want your votes," he said. I froze in the very core of my being! If he does this in public, he may be a monster in private! This is called tyranny! I see it in his Moslem Osama-like face!
Your not talking about when Obama made a comment about one of McCain's proposal and the crowd booed. He told the crowd none of that just go out an vote. I think you need to rewind the tape. And if that is not the right rally then please insert a seed for the proof of your allegation.

I hope he does bring it up. It will be the final nail on his campaign coffin.

I read in the last few days that the campaign people handling Palin won't let her listen to the news because it will depress her. She actually said so at a rally. Which is probably why she was glad to get to a "pro-America" part of America, right?
Obama doesn't need to bring up Palin. What is true about Palin is so obvious, it doesn't merit mentioning. Obama has much more important subjects to discuss.

Yes we are all afraid of the terrible Alaskan Independence Party. With their acts of civil disobedience and how they bombed the Pentagon... oh wait... that was Ayers. Well certainly after we are finished with the Alaskan Independence Party we need to go after the Green Party and the of course the Independent Party... have we not all had enough of Ralph Nader? What about that Libertarian party and their anti-regulation platform, that has to be un-American.
otm... last time I checked it is not a crime to belong to a political party regardless of what their platform is. So they want Alaska to succeed. So by bringing this affiliation up it is humorus. I would think that Obama would avoid this as it would only allow for more discussion about his personal affiliations. Ah yes... he was 8 years old when Ayers was a part of terrorist activity and somehow he sat in a church for 20 years, appeared on the cover of the church's magazine but never heard a word Wright said. So now he is deaf, dumb and blind.

I agree with Glad2say: I think McCain's choice of Palin was like an "impulse purchase" -- the kind that you regret buying but have bragged about too much to take it back.
However, unlike glad2say, I'm terrified at the thought of having McCain in office.

Actually, Palin's statement of her duties in the Senate if elected are very accurate. The constitution provides that the VP will be the President of the Senate. President is from the same root as Preside. The VP is to be in charge of the Senate and to vote in case of a tie. Read the constitution. She is right--you are wrong.
- 6 votes
JEM,
You obviously have not considered what our constitution says about states plotting to seceed from the union.
This woman is personally connected to this group, this is not something someone else did when she was 8 years old. It is amazing how you guys can pick and choose what crime is worst than another. It is not as if Obama was promoting or encouraging ANY wrongdoings, so he knows people that have done bad things, who don't? It's another thing to take a personal role in these activities!
Bad judgement is not listening to other's ideas or thoughts on any subject even if it is racial, bad judgement is encouraging those bad ideas and thoughts into action!

Citizens are playing the ultimate trump card. Now law suits have been filed in 12 states as is provided to require a Presidential candidate to prove that he is eligible to be a presidential candidate. Seems Obama very likely is NOT a citizen of this great land. There is a birth record for him in Mombasa Kenya, the birth cert put forth by some of his supporters on the internet is a fake as examined by a certified fraud examiner and his paternal grandmother says she was there when he was born in Kenya to an 18 year old mother--couldn't have lived in the US for 5 years after the age of 16 so not able to pass citizenship along. Even if he was a citizen at birth, his adoption by his stepfather and subsequent citizenship in Indonesia would have required giving up his citizenship--he attended school there as only citizens can and one is required to be a sole citizen in that country--no dual citizenship. He would hence have had to come back into citizenship as a naturalized citizen. As late as his 20's he was traveling to Pakistan (which Al Queda camp??) on an Indonesian passport and if he was naturalized after that, he would be a naturalized--not a natural born citizen as the Constitution requires.
Check out Berg Obama Birth Certificate on google.

Who would have guessed it would be the Democrats that would be so sexist. A lot of talk centers around not liking her because she is beautiful. Well, she just got the endorsement of NOW president and other women on the forefront of the women's movement. You don't have to be ugly to be smart. I'm very proud of her! She is a woman's woman! She has a family, not unlike all of ours, with some flaws and some joys--a pregnant daughter and a Down's syndrome son she chose not to abort.
She is smart and funny and really really good at administering a state government which includes the US strategic missile control which is under her command.
- 5 votes
Bernice... I have considered what the constitution says about states plotting to secede from the union... it says nothing against plotting secede. It does discuss that the unilateral secession of a state is not allowed in Article 7 and this was affirmed by Texas v. White in 1868. But it does not disallow for the mutual secession of a state and this too was affirmed by Texas v. White. Thus it may be clear that if a state wants to secede and the federal government agrees, it can happen.
But none of this is the point. The point is that it is NOT illegal and for YOU to even try... to have the audacity... to compare the sick acts of a person that bombed the Pentagon and by his own admission wished he did more to that of a person belonging to a political party is simply disgusting. I would hang around and talk with a person who thinks their state should be independent all day long before I would give a terrorist the time of day.
It is a character issue with Obama. If he is SO smart as SO many claim, then how did he not know of what Ayers stands for? How did he not know what his Pastor beleived? Why did he wait until now do distance himself? Seems rather convenient don't you think? Come on and get a grip on reality and stop comparing a person who is expressing their right to free speech to an idiotic, low-life, disgusting bomber like Ayers.

However, a review of Palin's 20 months in office shows that aside from overseeing the National Guard's state-level emergency missions, as all governors do, the first-term governor played no role in any territorial defense or other national defense operations involving military forces. In an interview with the Globe, the head of the Alaska National Guard said her role commanding the National Guard was no different from that of any other governor.
Thankfully that was the extent of it. She doesn't even know what her job as VP would be and she has been asked 4 times. You'd think by now she would have looked it up. I am still wondering where this "smart" thing comes from.
- 6 votes
I do hope however, Obama does not play the Palin card. I think it would be a mistake. His campaign is not broke so don't fix it.
Unless and only unless he wants to pick at her credibility but even then I think any attack on Palin could backfire.
- 2 votes
Exactly, you need to read more than factcheck.org (ran by obama's camp) and the left wing media. Go READ the details of both of their plans, pretty simple.
Obama -
1) Spend money the country doesn't have,
2) tax the people making the money and hiring all the people to DEATH. (don't tell me that 80% of the people in this country DON"T work for a company with INC after it's name...) they will not be happy when they don't get raises, some are laid off and prices of goods and services go up to pay for the taxes Mr. Obama wants to raise. So all that money he wants to "give away" won't be worth as much as it is today becuase the cost of goods will go up to cover the taxes (duh!)
3) Give money to people that haven't earned it (since when did we become an entitled nation...) give to people in need sure, but not to people who aren't paying into the system. And his capital gains tax will hurt EVERYONE who buys and sells stocks and houses (including grandma), he wants a DEATH Tax brought back of up to 45%!! THis folks is called SOCIALISM.
4) Look at his friends folks, it's not just Ayers, there are plenty more out there that give cause to wonder... and let's take a look at how he is running HIS campaign.. you want to talk smears.. he covers up what he does with fancy words in hopes the "sheep" of this country don't get it. He worked WITH ACORN, he TRAINED ACORN people for 10 years!!! (no he didn't get paid to do it he did it voluntarily) and his camp say "he was never "employed" by them - please people read, get a clue and check your facts with places other than sites feed by these guys... do you wonder why things are hush, hush, do you wonder why this guy wants to kill babies and take peoples guns and ammo away? he wants the control. I don't have to use awful words like so many "tolerant" democrats do (Caribou Barbie? McPalin, and all up here, shame on you all - dems are supposed to be tolerant people and I see you all being anything but tolerant.) - all I see is hate.
McCain:
1) Freeze spending.
2) Get pumping oil here, build refineries and plants here for solar, wind, oil and nucluear which will CREATE jobs.
3) Lower taxes for EVERYONE. not just corporations. I'm so sick of hearing Obama say the oil companies are going to get richer, give me a break the government makes 40 cents on a gallon of gas, the oil companies make 7 cents and they are the ones with all the expenses and keeping employees with jobs. what does the government do with that money.
4) Veto pork spending bills!
5) let ME choose my healthcare, let ME Choose where I want my kids to go to school!!
Obama wants all the kids to go to government backed schools (can you say Russia, can you say Cuba?) please economists all over this nation have said that Obama's plans will BANKRUPT this country in 3 years.
Or maybe that is what you all want, no more america, no more freedom of speech, and no way to defend yourselves if the government turns out in the end to be like Cuba, or Iran, or Iraq or Russia... gee you think you would all remember history here, socialism doesn't work, our republic works when you have people in office who do what the public wants. (like not pass bailout bills etc)
oh and the economy which our lovely democratic congress and republican president threw money at is still "faultering" they FORCED Bank of America and WELLS FARGO to take the money. THese banks didn't want to be bailed out but our lovely power hungry congress told them they MUST take it and they MUST play..... (sounds like power hungry to me) that isn't what "the people" need.
Government needs to stay OUT
1) of the housing market (they created this mess 30 years ago with the community reinvestment act
2) out of the banks - if they fail because they were stupid, let them fail. THat is how business works.
3) The insurance and medical industries. Take a look people Candian's come HERE for care. Socialized medical doesn't work. Telling me what insurance company I must use to get healthcare from the government won't work either. Open it up to free enterprise, let ME choose my company basied on my needs not on what MR OBAMA TELLS ME I need.

Astounding! I find it absolutely incredulous that Palin's supposed lack of qualification to be VP is even an issue, in light of the fact that Obama has TWO whole years as a Senator! (so that makes him qualified to be president?) And is he not on the democrat's ticket as the presidential nominee? Seems like the dems have it backward. If we're looking just at experience, Biden should be the nominee and Obama the VP.

I have a bone to pick with all the repubs who are on these boards screaming about how if Obama/Biden get elected this country will not be the same. When you have poll after poll showing less than 20% (in some cases less than 10%) of this country feeling like we're headed in the right direction, do you really think we want more of the same? The reason Obama will be our next president is because we don't want this country to be the way it's been. WE WANT CHANGE!!!

Now, if I were McCain I would play a video of him saying this over and over again!

To me the presidency is an office like that of any other CEO, his toughest responsibility is picking his employees (ie cabinet, judges, ambassadors, etc) to actually do the work needed to keep the company, or country, moving forward. As I see it, the likelihood of Obama having the judgement to pick anyone that will help this country is slim to none. He has not been able to pick a pastor (racist, radical, Wright), a fellow board member (terrorist Ayers), a VP (within 6 months we will face a crisis Biden), or apparently anyone else to provide him with the insights needed to make an intelligent decision. He used one of those responsible for our financial collapse to vette his VP choice, his other choices have been no better.
The thought of Barry in the White House is just too frightening, if judgement is at all important to the office of president, Barry has scored zero.
I guess Sarah Palin and John McCain will suspend there campain and stomp for Barack now.

Ken, the right has compalined about the liberal-leaning media consistently for at least 20 years. When the news favors Reps it is generally buried if it is printed at all. When it favors the Dems is is front page. Further, when there is good news for the Reps, it is always followed by a "but, ..."
Journalism has lost most of the credibility that it once had. Remember 2000? Bush was able to fend off investigations and vetting because the media was heavily biased. If the media had been objective, we might have learned more and it might have spared us the last eight years.
Now her ewe are in 2008 and we are failing to investigate and properly vet another relatively unknown inexperienced candidate. And, like Bush, Obama will be thrust onto the world stage as the leader of the free world without Americans really knowing much about him. At least Obama has a command of the English language, so we won't suffer that.
But there will be something that we don't know about that will come up after the election that we should have learned about ahead of time. How beholden is Obama to Pelosi? Reid? Soros? Who will he surround himself with? Why is redistributing wealth healthy for the economy?0
Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin have received more scrutiny that Obama. I wish President Obama the best, but he's allowed himself to be shrouded with awful huge and unrealistic expectations. The disillusion will likely set in fairly soon after the inauguration.

This is a one of the vidoes that I have found. I know that we all deserve free speech so let me have mine.

Hard to believe Palin's "unfavorable rating" is only 42%
I thought the polls that came out today showed her unfavorable rating at 55%, and her favorable rating at 42%. At least that's what they have been saying on the news shows I have been watching.

James,
I not going to lie and say I watched your video, because I didn't I just refuse to have my mind clouded by Republican nonsense right now, I have to be geared up to do so, it makes me sick to my stomach and I have not eaten yet.
But I do want to comment about you remarks about freedom of speech because that makes me question whether you full understand just where is cry of socialism & communism can lead, it can lead to you giving up that freedom you cherish! You see there was a time not so long ago in America's past where the cry of communist and socialist was a very dangerous thing to hear, especially if you were accused of it, that cry put a fear in the hearts of All Americans because if you so happen to say the wrong thing you could be labeled such and hauled off to prison!
So for those of you so willing to allow McCain/Palin to lead us back to those days, be prepared to give up that freedom of speech!
That is one thing we love about Obama he is not trying to take us back, but forward in a more innovative and progressive future, while McCain has proven over and over his mind is still stuck in the past, in the Vietnam era!

Beside many Americans having no respect for her, this is so true.Even how many times she screws up, the hard core Republicans will vote for her.How about the rest of the world? Most of the world does not and will not respect her now or ever. If McCain/Palin wins by some slim chance, US will lose more respect to eyes of the world. If McCain dies, and Palin Ascend to Presidency, even more respect is lost. Our allies and Enemies will be closer together.I heard from my German friends in Germany, most of the Germans will vote out any German politicians who will some favor to Palin beign in office Prez or VP. My spouse is of German decent and reads German, most of German newspapers both liberal and conservative views make more fun about Palin than any politicians in history of the world. They think she wrong for American and the world.
As President and VP, you have to socialize with world leaders. If the world leaders don't respect you, you can not get anything done. To garner support for global issues.

For your convenience, I will post the video link again in case you want to review it: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/5411.
BTW—you notice this video was posted on YouTube and picked up by Canada Free Press--another shining example of mainstream media NOT doing its job. I wonder what Obama's poll numbers would be if Americans could see a video where Obama publicly supports his communist cousin's violence and genocide as a means for getting elected.
Bernice-300725: But I do want to comment about you remarks about freedom of speech because that makes me question whether you full understand just where is cry of socialism & communism can lead, it can lead to you giving up that freedom you cherish! Hey Bernice: I can't believe someone like yourself, who lectures on the historical aspects of socialism and communism denying the freedoms we cherish, advocating for a presidential candidate who believes the END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS in order to get elected. If this is the innovative and progressive future that Obama espouses, I don't want any part of it.

I don't think Obama will need the Sarah Palin card, most people have made up their minds at this point, and those who haven't will be disenchanted by McCain if he chooses to attack again. The Wright news is old. I think the election is decided already, we just don't know the results.

Professor- Why are you bring up ACORN? Seriously, I'm so sick of this ACORN fixing the election BS. They registered people to vote. They brought the registration cards that look phoney to the attention of the authorities. They are required to turn in ALL the cards to the election board, even the ones that are obviously fake people. GET A CLUE! Besides, if someone showed up to vote as Mickey Mouse don't you think a polling rep would think that was suspicious? I'm pretty positive they would. Especially with the oversight of lawyers from both sides at the polling places. Give me a break. It's not like ACORN was only registering Dems... it just happens that lower income and minority people usually vote Democrat.

ACORN is a joke and as crooked as the bee flies. They are a political shyster group like everything else in the so called campaign. I'm sick of it all and we need to just get this misery over with. ACORN is a distraction by the Republicans. Of more concern is the Republican Secretary of State's who are purposely discarding provisional ballots. Over 34,000 have been discarded in Colorado as we speak. Go to Rachel Maddow Show and check out last night's show. This is much more troubling. Also, the court filings by Republicans in Pennsylvania and Ohio to try to disrupt the elections.
The fact is....you can only vote ONCE. In most states you have to have a driver's license or a government issued ID card. Regardless of how many people register to vote, you have to match up. ACORN is a distraction and John McCain was a GUEST SPEAKER AT THEIR 2006 CONVENTION.

Waah, waah, waah... When the polls are unfavourable towards the Republicans- or their comments and tactics are taken to task- they like to cry "foul!"

Palin doesn't impress me at all. She might have been mayor or a small town, and the governor of a low-populated state, but she doesn't come across as being all that honest, fair, or efficient. She is also mean-spirited and rather uneducated about politics. C'mon. Doesn't know what a VP's role is? Couldn't name a supreme court decision with which she disagreed? Sheesh.
And who has Palin associated with? Seccessionists. Exorcists. Who else? Obama's associations were brought under attack and distorted when the Republicans didn't have any other tricks to pull out of their crunched up hats.

We have had 8 years of Republican rule. Reagan started this "trickle down" ideology.
Guess what? It doesn't work. The rich spend, but they hoard too, they are the first to get their money out and put it into off shore accounts. The rich think about getting richer. Enough is never enough. Meanwhile, the middle class has stagnated.
Our country was built from the BOTTOM UP. Let's get back to basics.
Barak's tax for the rich is the same as under Clinton and everyone was having a great time. The budget looked pretty good.

McCain was not a keynote speaker at an ACORN meeting. It was a speech at a general meeting where about 12 different groups were in attendance and only one of them was ACORN. Obama is the only one with ties to ACORN, and he has lied about his connections with the group. If you guys want another president that can tell a bold face lie directly to you on camera then vote Obama.

No doubt Obama is a liar. He lied about relationship with Ayers, and Rev (theAmerica-hater) Wright. He is a modern-day charlatan. How could anyone trust this dude?
You are correct!
I know many wealthy people including myself. My assets are in the low millions. My home is paid for, that means no mortgage. I pay cash for my cars, clothes, food, etc. I don't have anything on credit except few business line of credit for unexpected expenses which is paid of withing 2-3 months max. I live a frugal live.
Here something, my business will not survive without stonger working and even stronger and bigger middle class to upper class. They are my live blood. If there a decline in middle and working class to poverty, my busienss will decline.
Obama will offer tax cuts to people making $250,000 or less, my live blood. I will pay more taxes. The middle with the tax cuts will have more income to support my business.
The trickle down ecnomics only looks good on paper! It does not work.
If I get extra 1 to 2 millions in taxes due to McCain tax cuts at all tax levels, I am going to hoard it. I have nothing else I will need to buy. I am on the low end of the million.
Also, you can't depend on philantophy from the wealthy. Only a lower percertage of really walthy people donate to charity, schools or arts, or whatever. Most wealthy people especially the Right Wing Republicans are biggest cash hoarders in the world. You most see philantropy from wealthy Democrats and Moderate Republicans.
As for ACORN, it old news and proven false. Stop bring up the ACORN crap over and over. STop listening the Rush Limbaugh and other Right Wing Talk or Radio show host.

I am sick to death of this AIP BS. It was proven that she was NEVER a member of that party. Todd was registered more than 10 years ago but changed his party affiliation. It also is not illegal to succeed as a state, please research succession if your not aware of the law. It would be really detrimental to his campaign I believe if he plays "the card". He comes across as a mild mannered man who speaks lightly and wants to be friends with everyone. If he tries to swing this attack in his favor he may lose voters who will compare his tactics to those of whom he condemns. If his supporters are so confident he will have no problem winning the election why then should he even for a moment entertain this thought ? On the other hand, he doesn't need to play the card when he has thousands of bloggers doing it for him and never once has to get his hands dirty. That to me is smart.
"the A.I.P. are terrorists whose founder was killed while trying to buy plastic explosives to blow up targets in the U.S.A" as for this gem of a statement ...... If you want to start flinging poo"I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough.". This statement from William Ayers 9/11/01 in the NYT. Three of his followers were killed while building a bomb that Ayers designed to be detonated at a Fort Dix dance.
Lame. McCain has shot himself in the foot repeatedly going negative against Obama - and you suggest that Obama's best play is to go negative against McCain? Obama's response to the V.P. question at the last debate is the way to go: "I'll let the American people decide that" (or something like that). His calm leadership - and McCain's erratic behavior - is what is sealing this for Obama... a sudden panic move by Obama is hardly going to be helpful.

Unfortunate for Obama, he does not have much negative to say about McCain.
McCain is "clean". Obama is dirty and dishonest. Obama does want to go negative because for one negative he throws, ten negatives will shot back at him. There's a ton of Obama baggage ready to be unloaded if necessary. For example, excerpts from his books about drug use and his ideology will be pouring like hot lava covering the politcal scene. Watch out Obama!!!
I haven't heard any negative ads from McCain. All the ads I see are Obama's. McCain ads are few and far between. Obama has all these ads, because he has all the money. He lied to everyone that he would use the public financing that McCain is using. The McCain / Finegold Campain Finance Reform act. Keeps us from seeing every third commercial a political ad. Thanks McCain.
Uh huh... but the difference is that Obama is scrutinizing McCain's policies and questioning them; not negatively, rabidly attacking McCain's character. Big -HUGE!!- difference.
What McCain has are flyers and robo calls inundating the phones and mailboxes of people everywhere.
I say if the McCain campaign "goes there" with bringing up Rev. Wright, then Obama should play every last Palin card in his deck, including AIP, Troopergate, spending state funds on Palin's kids' travel, etc. America cannot afford to lose this opportunity for change.

well gingersnaps, you got it partially right.
The republicans think that everone under $250k are only worthy of "trickles" or, better termed, scraps from their capitalist tables.
They also fear not being able to stuff their trust funds and estates and no longer being able to shelter their money from taxation.
- 2 votes
dafanz - explain to me just how Obama is going to raise wages and benefits? Businesses will not be paying more wages or benefits if Obama raises their taxes. They will make cuts. You will lose your job and your benefits and pay more for things because businesses will raise their prices to pay the higher taxes. Obama can say he will give you the moon and throw in a couple stars too. It won't happen. If you think our country is not doing well now, you just wait. All the taxes Obama wants to raise are on the people that run businesses that employ people. I'm sure $250,000 sounds like a lot of money to some. $250,000 for a business person isn't much. That would be a very small business.

I'm more concerned with that side story about a second economic stimulus package. What?! If they use the same parameters as the first one, will it work? The first one did not work and the economy is even worse now. Please, someone, help me out here. Explain the reasoning behind this!!!
- 1 vote
Bush said he would consider approving a second bailout package, to the tune of $600 billion. Reasoning - same as last one.
- 1 vote
the first package was aimed at bailing out the banks and help put them back on stable footing. The results of this are not instantaneous.
The second package is aimed at the country's infrastructure--roads, bridges, etc. The purpose here is to create jobs.
Like the "bridge to nowhere"? You have got to be kidding. The first bailout was handled by the same Democratic crooks in congress that created the mess in the first place (see fox in the henhouse analogy). Even then, they couldn't contain themselves from adding millions of dollars in pork to aid their buddies who are trying to rig the election. The stock market saw right through that sham. Now you think that they will get it right the second time? You are destined to get more of the same.
Have you seen the report on the emails presented during a congressional meeting, about the rating of subprime mortgage paper by the S & P? CNBC folks were a bit astounded. This is as regards S & P's triple "A" rating of that subprime paper mess. Quote - "We rate every deal...it could be structured by cows and we would rate it..." - kind of takes away their credibility. This email was in response to one of their people saying it was a bad deal. No wonder people's 401k's are headed south (down 461+ points this day, currently). So much for trust in the market, those idiots.
Obama's version of the plan was to use it for infrastructure, roads, etc, i.e. jobs! The Republicans want to use it for more tax breaks!

Auzzie, Stimulus packages are NOT going to work. GWB will NOT admit that the trickle down theory does NOT work over the long term and it does not create jobs. If the theory worked, why hasn't it been working these past 7 years with GWB???? I wish someone would ask that of John McCain.
- 7 votes
Senator McCain, do you subscribe to trickle down economics and aren't you now proposing trickle down solutions to the failing economy? Won't that just make the economic situation worse?
"Look, I reached across the aisle and put my country first all my life. I can work with Gov. Palin, who has proven herself a reformer, and we'll take on the greed of Washington and Wall Street."
Senator McCain, would you please address the question of trickle down economics?
"I warned two years ago that we needed more oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That's why I'm known as a maverick. We're going to reform Washington. That's what the country needs and we're going to give it to them."
But Senator McCain, do you know what trickle down economics means?
"Of course I know! I consulted with Sarah Palin, a governor who has taken on the oil interests and the good ol' boy network. We'll work together and reach across the aisle and put country first."
Uh, mm, thank you, Senator McCain.

Thank you Sunny T. It about time that repubs on this post understand what they stand for. The trickle down economics have trickled down to China and India where more profits can be made. Understand it is about PROFITS. Secondly, the people on the post need to understand the margin the dems have in the House and Senate. They do not have a non-Filabuster proof margin. What does that mean? GWB will and has blocked anything that comes to his desk. The Repubs had 6 years since GWB with majority of both houses and executive branch. This is true evidence that trickle down doesn't work.
The spend and bigger government conservatives have doubled our deficit and raided the country. I don't hear the repubs taking responsibility and complaining about their behavior. All I keep hearing about is the liberal Media and their bias. Is that why Rupert Murdoch (Chairman of FOX) is supporting Obama. How can Republicans properly govern this country if they don't believe in government. That is why almost 40 states have a budget shortfall this year. Right here is Florida we have a $800 million deficit with a Republican Governor. Trickle down at it best! BTW Jeb Bush was our previous Governor.

The Democrats supported the stimulus package. They passed it. They have been in power for the last two years. And, in these two years they have completed nothing but run our country into a financial mess. Most of the big wigs that got huge salaries support Obama. Don't you wonder why?
Mo Henry, why do you think wealthy people support Obama? Could it be that he will benefit them? Obama's income rose from just a few hundred thousand to over 4 million in just a couple years. Do you really think he is one of us? He loves being someone, he is stuck on himself and wants to be with the big boys.
I hope it doesn't come to that. I grew up in the south and have many dear friends there. I call them friends even though some are hardcore racist. I always express my displeasure at hateful comments, and we move on. Why? Because I grew up with them and 98% of the time, they are caring thoughtful people. So am I evil for associating with someone that is less than perfect? Who is?
This campaign is the nastiest that I have every seen. The poison and hate is spewed in all media, blogs, rally’s and even political commercials. We are better than that.
Mister Obama, stay above it. That is why you are ahead now. Don’t get in the mud when you don’t have to. I know most of the candidates’ weaknesses and don’t need to be reminded. You are ahead because we want a new direction and because of the promise of a better future. When this is over, no matter who wins, we will have to live and work together. I am very concerned over the mood that our great country is in.
The world will thank you for it.

Charlie, thanks for that. I, too, grew up in the South, and have really hard core racial friends in deep Mississippi. And we jaw about the elections and we've agreed to keep those conversations less hate filled. Being the only Democrat in a coven of Republicans and keeping my positive attitude without slamming McCain (I must admit, Palin gets most of my aim) has made a point that Mr. Obama was raised white. Really, I tell them. If that's what your problem is, look it up. And some of those Republicans that really don't want McCain/Palin to continue to shread this country have called me and told me that they agree, that Obama has the best plan for the future. All about perceptions again.
Please vote wisely.

Yes, I too associate with people who have ill will to Whites. My father has bad experience's with being in the military down south. He remembers the jim crow laws. SO should I shun my father for feeling this way. I don't understand how some thin Obama hates whites when his mother and grandparents are white. I think Obama should attack after being attacked like he's been doing. Alot of people who support him are doing so because he has refrained from negative atacks.
- 1 vote
Charlie - I totally agree. But remember the Tennessee Governor's race and the "Call me Harold". The only way to drown out the racial attacks that will be coming, it to swarm the electorate with votes. Amazingly people forget Obama is bi-racial?

I suspect all along that McCain would reintroduce Rev Wright to this election process. He has already embarked on a course to divide this country so why not continue. The problem with that is his surrogates like Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity and Bill Oreilly have played Rev Wright for months. Rev. Wright has already saturated American homes and most everyone know about his inflammatory remarks. Just as everyone know of Palin's inflammatory remarks calling Senator Obama a terrorists and allowing supporter to yell "Kill him" from the crowd. The problem with McCain is he never had a message that was consistent, below are list of character attacks he waged against Senator Obama
Inexperienced, Elitist, Naive, Celebrity, Muslim, Terrorists, Socialist, and Communist. Introducing Rev Wright will only add to the perception of him being an angry senile man.
McCain will not win or lose this election because of Rev Wright, he will win or lose based on the three debates, the selection of Palin and his policies that mirror those of George Bush. he had three job interviews to convince this country that he should be the next President and he LOST ALL THREE. Maybe it's time McCain take a hard look at the man in the mirror, at some point you have to stop blaming others for your inability to succeed. This is his third Presidential run, and still can't seal the deal with 26 years of experience.
Using the scorched earth technique will only make things worst for the GOP in upcoming elections, so by all means Senator McCain introduce Rev Wright. Rick Davis (campaign manager) should be fined by the RNC for running such an inept and incompetent campaign.
- 8 votes
Was is wrong for Hillary to use Rev wright in her ads? Obviously it wasn't the right thing for her to do, other wise it would be her instead of Obama running huh?
- 1 vote
If Hilllary were a man she would have been the nominee. She won more votes during the primary but the Democrats undermined her and went for an inexperienced man instead of the best candidate.
Senator Obama has held the course and set the standard. He does one other thing that I believe you in the media tend to underestimate - he gives people the opportunity to listen, comprehend and make up their own minds without having to be TOLD how to think or how to respond. I believe that this is the true McCain who has been there all the while. Most the American people realize ugly politics only profit a few. The more McCain tries to shame Obama - the more transparent and shameful his legacy for the future.
- 7 votes
of course we'll forget how he mocked "Joe the plumber" at a voter rally. This is a real guy and he asked a real question. I, unfortunately, we got the real answer.
- 4 votes
NEWS FLASH,
Joe the Plumber distorted the truth, oh wait he LIED! he was never in a position to purchase a company. He didn't even know the rules of his occupation such as needing a license to protect from potential lawsuits. He LIED about his income, he LIED about the yearly income of the company he stated that he wanted to purchase. He is a registered Republican and did I mention that he donated 100.00 to McCain's camp. In the future if you want to draw attentionto a human story please use a better role model. I think he was a pathetic prop by camp McShame. Instead of outfitting Palin with a 150k wardrobe why didn't McShame pay off Joe plumbers back taxes that owes to the US government?

And exactly how will Obama change America? He has no clue! John McCain knows how to fix what's broken.
- 2 votes
What was wrong with the "real" answer? That if his business PROFITED over $250K he'd have to pay slightly more taxes? Give me a break people. I don't understand how the 'right' has turned into the Anti-intellectual crowd. It just doesn't make any sense!
- 1 vote
Dan- Why don't you read Obama's plans on his website? Why do you think McCain knows how to fix what is broken? What has he done, what plans has he laid out that lead you to believe that? He's planning on taxing you on your health care benefits.... How does that solve anything?
- 4 votes
Sen. Obama has no plan! All he has, is ambition to be the first Black to be elected. That's why so many Blacks gave him money! It's not about America as we have known it! It's more about Jim Jones Guayana "socialism by force"! American people may be slow to wake up, but historically they always wake on time! Sen. Omama has no plan to increase wealth, and without such plan paying off the huge national debt is impossible. People will see this on time, before they vote! They will realize that distributing wealth to them, enticing as it may look, is suicide! Sen. Obama is handing a rope to the masses, to hang themselves!

I'm apologize, I can't help it. I have to say it. I can't hold back anymore.
Republicans are complete idiots.

"He has no clue! John McCain knows how to fix what's broken"
In 26 years of being in washington John McCain hasn't fixed anything!! It's his party that broke it. When he "suspended" his campaign and had Bush call a meeting he was in there and finally Barack Hussein Obama asked what John's idea's were....mcCain replied i want whatever my party wants!! You tell 'em John baby!!
- 2 votes
I have one question...If John McCain is soooooo great and can do the job and is sooooo experienced then why didn't Republicans vote for him the other times he ran for president. They let GW Bush attack of him having a Black baby determine their choice. And all of a sudden now, we are suppose to believe he is the right person for the job...
- 2 votes
No, Gingersnaps is talking about the Republican primary where McCain ran against Bush. Somebody started a rumor that his adopted daughter was really his own child from an interracial relationship.

You can have some socilistic policies without having a socialist country. I live in one-Canada. I am proud of my country. I have even been prouder lately because of comments from people who can't understand the difference from a socialist country and a country that is a DEMOCRACY, with a constitutuion, freedom of speech and every freedom you can think of. I also am proud that none of our people are refused healthcare, perscription drugs etc. Our Financial institutions in Canada are highly regulated and guess what? While other financial institutions went under our financial institutions are solid and among the BEST in the world. Maybe a little socialism isn't all that bad.
- 2 votes
DarinD you obviously didn't see Joe the Plumber ask his question. He never said he owned a business that made $250,000. His question was very simple. He said that he would like to buy a business someday and if it makes over $250,000 will I have to pay more taxes to support your programs? Obama said yes, those that have have to spread the wealth. You don't need a license to work for a plumber. Someone at the company has to have a license but they all have 'lackeys' working for them (I don't believe the term lackey is appropriate for anyone but to prove a point I am using it so you will understand). Joe the plumber is just like you and me - someone that has a dream and works hard to achieve it. He is actually taking classes and will be taking his test for master plumber, skipping over apprentice and journeyman, shortly. Joe the plumber is exactly what Obama doesn't believe in. Obama thinks he is a joke. Joe is us.

What a one-sided liberal take on the news. Why don't all you Obama supporters spread the wealth around by sending what you have in your pockets directly to me. I'm not the biggest fan McCain has, I don't necessarily think Palin was the best choice as a running mate, but the fact is what I am able to accomplish, and the money I make is to better me, my family, and whom I choose to help. Not the guy who doesn't pay taxesand still gets a refund check. If socialism is what you want, then jump right in there behind Obama cause he's your guy. And let's see where the news media stands in 2 years when all material is censored thru governmental agencies before printing.
- 3 votes
GAGROWN - Leave the liberalness out of the post. You repubs continue to preach the conservative and liberal BS. What is your definition of liberal and conservative? No one is getting a check unless they work period. Obviously you have not spent the time to hear Obama's plan. Obama has clearly, clearly stated infinite times that he wants to bring the tax rate back to the Clinton years. Remember Bush introduced these tax cuts that have just about bankrupt this country. If all the news outlets were to become like FOX then we would have the Palin, Lindbaugh, and Bachmann making McCarty attacks on every American that disagrees with them.
I have to laugh, because you are probably too young to remember. Martin Luther King was called a communism and socialist by the Southern Democrats that migrated to the Republican party in the 60's. Take a page from the same playbook.
- 3 votes
Mo Henry
Sorry I was busy responding to another Obamabot to see this. You understand, there are already people who do not work that get a check. This didn't start with the Bush administration nor will it CHANGE un Obama. If you will go back and read the Clinton tax plan you will see that he knew it would cost the taxpayers $450,000,000,000 between the years 2008 and 2017. His tax plan was only going to make him look good while he was there. It may also note, that while Bush introduced his tax cuts an democratic congress helped pass it. And when those tax cuts run out, as your fearless leader has vowed to let them. Everyone, including the middle class will see a tax increase.
Lets not mention the fact that while the republicans warned of an economic crisis coming due to frediemac and fanniemae, the democrats insisted everything was just fine.
Also, if you do your history on MLK, the CHANGE he had in mind was quite different from the CHANGE Obama wants.

I would love to be able to keep more of what i make for my family as well - and for the charitable organizations I choose to support. But the fact remains, the republican led washington has driven our debt to such high numbers that the debt clock can't even handle it. There's no way for taxes to be reduced without incurring more debt. Libertarians - though they'll never win anything big in my lifetime - they're the ones you true republicans should be supporting. Small government personfied. The republicans have gone so far to the crazy "christian" right that they no longer even personify Christ's teachings - nor what the average American believes. I want my children to have a world where they have the opportunity to succeed. A world where wild life and the Earth are respected as they should be - read your bibles you right wing nuts.
- 2 votes
First of all, who brought Christ into this conversation. I am a Christian and would not classify myself as a "right wing nut". I am a conservative first then a republican. I could not support a Libertarian view beacuse of some of their extremist ideals. I do read my Bible and have read thru it more than once and if you'd like to give me a biblical reference to Christ's teaching on ecology I'll go back and check it out again for scriptual integrity. You act as if the National Debt started in 2000. Read the contents of what the Democrats as well as Republicans stuffed in the bail out package and you'll understand our financial crisis cannot be pinned on either party. Socialist ideology will not fix a country based on capitalism. And people who truly want to get ahead, flock to a capitalistic country for that reason.
- 1 vote
MoHenry - the Brookings Institute, a non-partisan group, states that clearly Obama's plan will be giving a "rebate" totally over $300 million to people that pay no taxes or, in other words welfare. Those are their own words.
GAgrown and y'all:
I don't know who created the 'earned income tax credit' paid to people who don't work. It was over 35 years ago. Obama has said over and over and over, 'tax cut for WORKING AMERICANS.'
All the stuff from McCain shows he really doesn't 'understand economics' or 'not up on that economy stuff.' It shows from his comments: A Republican spokesperson tried to defend McCain and his charges of socialism by actually proposing a 'flat tax'. That would be the ultimate, 'pay your own share' tax and not the current 'progressive' American tax system. OUR tax system is structured, what did Palin say, "take your money and give it to someone else based on a politician's decision." THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE NOW!!! I can't believe McCain has stooped to being so stupid!!!
Anyone who was not FOR Bush in the last 2 elections have been insulted and shouted down for the last 8 years--THE REPUBLICANS WERE IN POWER and should not have been trying so hard to insult 1/2 of all Americans. When Obama wins, what are these 'whiners' going to do when the Republicans are NO LONGER IN POWER?
When the bible was written long long ago, by men, I doubt that they forsaw the environment being threatened by gloabal warming - so sorry - no bible verse. But even the Southern Baptists have decided that since God gave us this planet to live on - that we owe it to Him to not destroy it. And I can't remember who brought religion into the conversation - but just all the comments from the right saying that liberals don't love people who go to church - it's just stupid.
Like many of the comments on this list, I feel Obama does not need to do this. The American people are already making up their minds about Palin. Her negatives have steadily grown. Why get in the way of that?
I hope McCain does not go back down that old Wright path. He's resisted it thus far and it's one of only a few few things recently for which I can give him some respect. But, honestly, just about everything, including the kitchen sink, has been thrown at Obama, so why not the sink with Wright in it? Course, if that happens, McCain is not without his pastor problems as well. Does he really want to bring all of that up? I think he's got more to lose than gain. Whatever the eventual result of this election, I have been hoping for the reappearance of the old McCain who I once greatly admired. Indeed, if he's looking for the best strategy for the rest of this campaign, that would be it. But even it would be too little too late. But at least he would go our in style and true to himself.
- 2 votes
McCain has said repeatedly that Obama is an honorable man. Bringing up the Wright and Ayers connections raises a question - if you think those connections are important, what do they say about Obama? Do they mean he really isn't an honorable man? The only alternative is more subtle, and I think it's the true one: Obama believes people are really good at heart and wants to believe the best about them. An admirable characteristic in one's personal life, although it does open one to getting stabbed in the back on occasion. But it's dangerous when you're leading your country and dealing with foreign leaders.
Funny thing is that it reminds me of when Bush met Putin and said he could see in his eyes that he was an honorable man. Why do we want to elect another inexperienced President?
Why do we want to elect another inexperienced President?

Are you going to use those programs funded/mandated by the government? I agree that complete government control is not beneficial. Those who don't use any government programs, please, cast the first stone. Maybe you use pigeons to carry your mail, instead of the U.S. Mail. Home school your little darlin's, rather than use public schools. Drive on dirt roads on your enormous properties, not on gov't funded roadways. Use private universities only, not gov't subsidized ones. Surely your grandparents did not imbibe of Social Security or Medicare (those are NOT self-sustaining).
You get the picture. And if you subsist as such, totally self-sufficient, why are you here complaining? If you do not subsist as an island unto yourself, while at the trough, try not to be such hypocrites.
- 5 votes
socialism has worked longer and better, than crapitalists stealing all my money and giving it to the rich.............which kool aid is your fav?
- 3 votes
as a matter of fact, I do home school my children, and I attend a private university myself. My parents as well as my grandparents worked for large corporations and invested in the stock market which provided for their means (even during this crisis). Social Security is just a scam, you know as well as anyone the money will run out no matter who is on the presidential seat. If you want change, believe me your gonna get it, but it's not going to be what you thought.
So Brad, you'd rather the government steal all your money and give it to someone who can fill out the right paperwork to be considered worse off than you. You sir a prime target. If you like socialism, you are in the wrong country. If you think it works better, ask a Russan immigrant. I prefer red kool-aid.

Nancy, can you be more specific about "your America"? Cartainly, your America is not mine! I stand for what is right on every front! Do you? If you do, then our America is the same! But I would bet years of my life that you are lying to the American people: you never wanted a great, noble, ethical, clean, America!
Funny -- last I looked, "Russia" was a failed communist state, not socialist... Because we all know they're two different things, right???
your point Mr. Kelly? BY his own words "spread the wealth around". This point cannot be argued. This wasn't a re-edited sound bite nor a republican plant to trip him up. Obama went to the neighborhood, took the question, understood and gave a socialist response.
- 1 vote
Brad- If socialism is so wonderful than why are people from socialist countries flocking here to the U.S?
do we know that gracie?
Communism
- As a political movement, communism is a more radical branch of the broader socialist movement. The communist movement differentiates itself from other branches of the socialist movement through their wish to completely do away with all aspects of market society under the final stage of the system, as well as their unshakable commitment to armed revolutionary strategies for overthrowing capitalism, and their focus on the international working class as key in that revolution. As a practical matter, however, most revolutions that attempted to implement a communist society and were successful at overthrowing the state, have resulted in totalitarian dictatorships.
and for DD50. I would say my 2 acres wouldn't qualify as a plantation, but the fact that I successfully run an electrical contracting business which easily grosses over $250,000 would make me wealthy thru your rose colored Obama glasses. Perhaps you should consider a different line of his rhetoric for a case of argument.
he's not Soialists and you know it!! You're taking a statement that probably should have been said as "I'm taxing for fairness" But you want to turn it in to a political movement!!
And you complain about DEMS?? Puleeeze!
more people move OUT of the USA to "democratic socialistic" countries.... not even close....to them coming here....you people really need an education..... oh wait, carl rove hates education.....his quote "we (repubs) don't want to spend more money on education because the more educated people are the less they will vote for us" yep he said it.....look it up!

So Studius if it's a "fair tax" he wants, there is already one package available. Anyone can look back and say, "well, what I meant". But what he said came right off the cuff and that, sir, is exactly what he meant. And you know that!!!
Oh please Brad! You must tell where you get your statistics on the amount of people moving out of the US to socialist countries. You didn't google that! It's people like you who refuse to REALLY do the homework assignment and "vote for change" that scares everybody. In case your wondering GWB isn't running again so whichever one gets there, change is going to happen. I just prefer my change to be less radical.

You also need education on the Fair Tax. It does AWAY with income tax so you only pay tax on what you spend not what you make. So it doesn't matter whether you make $10K or 1,000,000,000. The tax is fair!
I guess when the going gets tough, the Obamabots get going! So long brad!

Sorry Brad, I am still here arguing with other mindless Obamabots. I see a comment but still no statistical data or even I link for me to see it for myself. I fail to see where I twisted the truth only where you refuse to respond with factual evidence to document your claims. Please notice the time line on my comments and you can clearly see, it is you who refuse to be truthful.
And what do you mean YOU PEOPLE is that some kind of racial comment?
nothing else to say brad? Or are you simply waiting until you think I'm gone and can't respond. Perhaps your searching desperately for the factual evidence you need to support your mindless claim. I've already looked, there is none to be found. So then I will leave and allow you to spew the rhetoric which has infiltrated you through the Obama indoctrination, knowing that you will cast an uneducated vote which only cancels out mine.
Mick Kelly, the middle class paid higher taxes under the Clinton administration then they do right now.
Obama's Odinga connection is a violation of the Logan Act. Obama went to Kenya, the place of his birth, and campaigned for a dictator that uses violence against women and childern. Obama used taxpayer money to fly to Africa. Odinga is accused of genocide. Because Obama was born in Kenya is is unable to become president. Even if he win! Obama is in Hawaii right now trying to plant a fake birth certificate. Obamacrimes.com
Brian, you will be more effective if you really try to identify something plausible. Really.
Here watch... Sarah Palin has charged tax payer dollars to fly and house her children to events around the state and/or country. They were not invited, showed up to the surprise of the planners and by golly, the finance director of Alaska didn't even know the taxpayers were getting a bill over $21,000. There, see? Plausible and REAL.
This article from the National Journal starts off with "...Polls seem to be tightening, and the election is going to be decided by a white, male plumber named Joe..."
The polls are tightening?? That's a laugh!! ALL polls show Obama is INCREASING his lead daily and currently has a 10 point lead!
- 3 votes
That's not true and all you have to do is look at real news and you would know. The lead as of noon today was 6 points and falling.
- 1 vote
Take a look at the polls. Who are they polling? The higher the point lead on a poll you will find that more democrats were polled than republicans. Hardly fair. If you take an average of all the polls Obama has about a 5 point lead. This includes the unfair polls. If Obama is so great why is he not leading by a bigger margin? Take a look at history folks. The democrats always have the lead in the last 28 years or so and only Clinton was able to win. He still lost 9% of his lead on voting day and with less than 50% of the votes. Dont be surprised if McCain does win. I doubt he will but dont be surprised if does.

I'm sorry. You must be right since I heard Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly say the same thing about tightening of the polls. LOL
Just a tidbit of information for the knowledge hungry. Today the Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll found that 52 per cent voters favor Obama against 42 per cent who support McCain, showing a four per cent increase since the poll two weeks ago. Do the math. 52% - 42% = 10% lead for Obama and increasing every day.

I've already voted and the polls were crowded. I do believe that most people have made up their minds. The numbers show that the public is tired of negative campaigns. I don't think the "Wright" card will make any difference. However, if they do play that card, there is alot of information about Sarah and the "First Dude's" affiliation with the AKIP. A high ranking guy in the organization launched her political career. There's video of him speaking about it. He's very informative and said her door was always open to him at the governor's office. He said she was going to go far. He was pleased as their motto is to infiltrate be it democrat or republican, and initiate the groups agenda. This is an organization founded by a man who is on tape spewing hatred for America. This kind of group is anit governent in the most extreme way. They wish to succeed from the United States and this group is an umbrella for anti government extremists.
If the Wright card gets played, Barack should expose Palin. She is a fraud. She abused her power. She was found guilty of abusing her power and violating an ethics rule. She is a consumate liar about it. She dragged her children with her on numerous trips and billed the state for it. If you are going to play in the big boys league, then behave like them. You can't have it both ways. Men do not take their children on business trips to the extent that Palin did. If she is going to be the bread winner, then the "first dude" should be watching the children. If not him, then a nanny.
I say go for the Palin card if they play the Wright card.

Dianne, all "Palin cards" have been played. She is a decent American woman! She does not hate America! She fears Jim Jones' type of Black socialism! We know what happened to that socialism in Guayana! Mrs. Palin believes in God, not in "Change." Change can go wrong way, very wrong! With God, we always keep our way and never get lost! This is why we must vote for God!
- 1 vote
Oh, that's right... So, in your opinion desert, anybody that doesn't vote for McCain/Palin doesn't believe in God???
Well, sorry to disappoint you... I firmly believe in God and wouldn't vote for McCain as long as he has Palin on the ticket... Might have considered it before even if I wasn't a democrat -- but NOT now...
"Dianne, all "Palin cards" have been played"
Not so....AIP has not been touched by Obama, Todd has not been touched by Obama, The African Minister, The office Abuse, The interior director quitting because of sarah Palins racial views , let alone her gaffes....she's going to get hit HARD!!
Your right studius, the only person on tv I heard say AIP was Keith Olbermann
Diane - most of the things you say about Sarah Palin makes me think she's already playing with the big boys. The problem you have is that the preacher Wright is an anti American racist preacher. That's a lot different than a typical politician.
This is why we must vote for God!
I filled out my "Vote by Mail" ballot here in Oregon yesterday.... and nowhere did I see God's name on the ballot!?
Is His name on ballots in other states? lol
"If the Wright card gets played, Barack should expose Palin. She is a fraud. She abused her power. She was found guilty of abusing her power and violating an ethics rule."
The delusion of people like your self is breathtaking.
The idea that Obama has not been 'exposing' Palin for the past 55 days through his surrogates, internet flunkies, and particularly his media lackeys, is one of the all time b.s. lines in politics. This woman has been attacked, 'exposed' and smeared non-stop 24 hours a day since the day Mccain announced her. What is Obama going to now come out and say that his army of followers have not said a hundred times already?
McCain should reintroduce the topic of the racist Jeremiah Wright and Obama's 17 year friendship with him, AND more importantly, Obama's 17 year attendance at a church that preaches racial animosity and racial separation, at his morning meeting with the press today.
Here is the link: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/10/10/palin_chryson/index.html
And if you want to know about her running mate, here is a good link on him too.

Both are enlightening reads and should be read before Nov. 4.
Want to discuss G. Gordon Liddy's fund raiser for McInsanes campaign? Remember the Brookings Institute? How about Watergate? Talk about terrorist affiliations.
I think the McCain campaign was fatally damaged when he picked her - they lost their only message of Obama not having enough experience, and never found a new one that resonated. I think the polls show that she has managed to bring the ticket down on her own, without the Obama campaign needing to lift a finger. Stay above the fray and let them self-destruct...

K. Rose,
When you say 'code of honor' try sending that plea to MSNBC and the other left wing radical anti-american anti-capitalism malcontents and 'obaminators' who are lying about everything to get this guy elected. Obama must owe alot of favors to alot of leeches. Tell Americans the truth about Osamaobama. Remember the old saying, "judge you by the company you keep". And Obamas been keeping company with some real lefties and socialistic losers. Lets Keep America Free, elect John MCCain who has already proved his dedication to the U.S. (and us)

Our current economy is Capitalism at its finest. "Spreading the wealth"...sounds like those of you that are against it prefer to keep the money at the top, while the rest of us can barely stay in the middle class. Here's how it works...I provide a service to my employer, which in turn, puts money in their pocket. I deserve a full 40 hour week at a decent wage. Wow! I kind of thought that was also what America was about; not the money being concentrated at the top.
McCain "has been tested"(according to him) and FAILED.
All those years in the Senate and he hasn't done ANYTHING outstanding or of any real worth to the average American. Fighting "pork barrel" spending is almost a non issue as it accounts for less than 2-3% of government spending. He has shown he hasn't supported vets like he should have.
I respect McCains service in the military like I do all vets and active military.
McCain's record/resume of barely graduating, crashing 4-5 planes, and giving away classified intel and making propaganda tapes for the enemy in Vietnam, speaks very loudly. Much louder than anything he can say about Obama.
Hey neighborhood - If you don't like what your boss is paying you find another boss. Your paycheck has nothing to do with spreading the wealth. What Obama/Biden want ot do is take more money from your boss and give to someone else. If you're already working and making a living from your boss you will not be on the Obama/Biden list.
McCain/Palin will let you and your boss keep what you earn. And your boss won't have to lay you off to give more money to Obama/Biden. I sure wish the democrats would quit trying to divide us with this class envy crap. There will always be rich people and there will always be poor people. And there will always be someone at the very top. Think if Bill Gates and Warren Buffet had been taxed a lot more over the years how much money they would not have had to give away. And you can bet that they are far more capable of spreading their wealth than any government program. And they are not going to give their money to anyone that doesn't deserve it. Unlike Obama/Biden.
AmericanLobo can you tell me something really worthy that Biden has completed in over 30 years of political life? Sure, he's signed on to a couple bills like McCain. But really nothing any different. How about Obama? He's been a Senate for about 22 months (working as one that is). Did he get anything done?
At this point in time I do not think that the "association" argument means anything to anyone who hears it. When Palin and McCain start talking on those "issues" people shut down and go into move on mode.
But, when people talk about the potential that Palin could become president in the event that McCain is unable to discharge his presdential duites if elected the electorate is interested and very concerned. Her recent comments regarding the powers of the VP serve to highlight this issue.
McCain and Palin can talk about Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers all they want. What the American people want to hear about first of all is the economy, and getting out of Iraq. Next, the American people are doing the VP vetting that McCain failed to do.

The DNC did not vet Barak Obama. He will soon have to respond to a law suit in Federal Court. He will be dis-bared in Illinois for lying on his application to become a lawyer. He will not be allowed to be sworn into office of the president because he was born in Kenya. When more people find out that the media is hiding these crucial facts, and did not give Hillary a chance to organize a campaign, people will be very pissed at the media.
Why wouldn't he go after Palin??? He's used every other negative thing he can come up with. He's got less experience than any candidate on the ticket, so your best defense is a good offense. And by the way can anyone explain his positon on sex education in kindergarten? He sure couldn't. What's age appropriate sex education in kindergarten?
"'Barack Obama supports teaching sex education to kindergarteners,'" said Obama mimicking Keyes' distinctive style of speech. "Which -- I didn’t know what to tell him (laughter)."
"But it’s the right thing to do," Obama continued, "to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools."

sex education is an exageration at best,
but as a mother of an 8 and a 4 year old these are issues, and if you don't see it people are kidding theirselves, my daughter has been "touched" in school and on the bus in 1st grade
YEAH 1st grade!!! the schools can only do so much, parents need all the help they can to prepare their kids for the SEXUAL world we live in, Kids live in homes that lack morals and disipline and their parents are modeling horrible behaviors and they bring them to school, kids are developing faster and faster,
I was 13 before I kissed a boy, my niece 20 years later 9! and now my daughter was 6!
WAKE UP!
get our heads out of the sand
educating our children IS part of keeping them safe!
I do NOT LOVE Obama, nor have I "drank the kool-aid"
but knowledge is POWER, get all the facts I say

What is wrong with age appropriate sex education. Why such a negative connotation with sex education? Sex education for a kindergartners would be understanding what are your "PRIVATE" parts-Inappropriate touching-that no one should violate what is considered private. Education at an appropriate level can lay the foundation to help children recognize and report misconduct and molestation.
Unfortunately, In this day of sexual predators, this could be valuable information for a young child to know.

Nanny - you are absolutely correct. The police departments often have an officer, usually a lady, who will - age appropriately - counsel kids about "stranger danger". Then, in 5th or 6th grade, depending on the district, a bit of "oh, it's puberty time" talk is provided. In my son's class, the principal gave the 5th grade boys some educational instruction - no guy teachers in that school. Not a big deal.
On the other hand, a dear girl in my 8th grade class, straight "A"s, but wore long prairie type dresses, and had a father that was 72 and super religious. She started her period and thought she was dying. That's criminal, to keep a child ignorant like that.
- 1 vote
No, DD50, it's not criminal! What is super criminal, is to initiate very young children to sex! That's criminal! I grew up in wartime Poland. At 15, I had no idea what sex was! But I knew what obscenity was! If a predator approached me, he would have regretted being born! In those days, families did not speak about sex, but taught us about honor, character, purity, nobility, and self-respect! Already at 5, we knew who we were! That was our shield!
Desert - duh, in this country we do not do what you just said - ewww.
We talk about stranger danger, because - perhaps unlike European or Slavic states - people here benefit from being told about "stranger danger". Here, we protect our children, and most cannot believe something bad can happen to them. It helps to have a program that gently makes them collectively aware there are bad people to be wary of - to not be a victim. Hopefully, our kids don't hear "obscenities" - at least not until they start riding the school bus. Our kindergartners are protected, even "shut up" is a "bad" word. Of course, as they get older, reality kicks in. By puberty, at least, some real "sex ed", still age appropriate, is in order. My kids brought home releases for me to sign, which I did, as I feel it is beneficial, and those that disagree DON'T SIGN.
Desertvoice..the age appropriate sex education was about touching. I already told my 3 year old son about touching because there are alot of pedifiles out there. I want him and my 9 year old to know if someone touches you come to me. Even if they threaten you. So teaching a kid that no one should be able to touch you and to tell someone is not an issue. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

you need serious help. let your children enjoy their childhood. don't worry so much. the writings on this site do show that HATE is alive and well in the good old US of A.
Open your eyes, ACORN is all over the place. Just arrested another one in PA along with 6 or 7 in other states. Jeremiah Wright, Luis Farrakahan, Bill Ayers, The slumlord, all alive and well. do your homework before you submit your vote! You will be surprised. I was.
When my daugther was 3 - I told her that her 'private areas' were her secrets and she should share them with anyone. And I've continued from there and provided her with age-appropriate sex education. She's 17 years old now and she's not pregnant. She's knowledgeable and able to do research on matters that concern her (including the HPV vaccination which she requested on her own) and talks to me about everything - believe, even though sometimes I wish I hadn't heard! =)
People be nice here - this is really getting sad and scary how angry everyone is. Vote however you want to vote.
What you should be wondering is, does the guy who wrote this crap do his homework?
John Mercurio of The National Journal is full of crap! The story of people yelling "kill him" has been proven false but he has to keep repeating it. Most of the material you find here on MSNBC is garbage but it's fun to read.
Go McCain/Palin
Why is the government taking on the role of the Parent? Plain and simple. Vote for McCain and Palin.
Brian, you mean, when does government mean paying for parent's kids to travel at taxpayers' expense? Vote for Obama/Biden.
Mel: please forgive me for letting brian out of his cage. He meant no harm. Brian get back in here and stop bothering the nice people.

Here's a trump card for you.
Good to remember on voting day. Do we want a president who doesn't "take sides" for America?
Perhaps there are SOME out there who are beginning to get 'the picture'. The following is a narrative taken from Sunday Morning's televised 'Meet The Press'. and the author is employed by none other than the Washington Post!! Yeah......the Washington Post of New York and Los Angeles Times fame!! Must say that I'm dually impressed..................
From Sunday's Televised 'Meet the Press' Senator Obama was asked
about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance
Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama
to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code,
Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, 'Stand and Face It'
Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, 'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine'. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.
WHAAAAAAAT the Hell !!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.
I, for one, am speechless.
Dale Lindsborg,
WashingtonPost

Speaking of flag pins, why is it that Obama is always wearing one and McCain never is? Did you see the debates?
- 3 votes
Dale...I think that the Republican party hijacked the American flag years ago. Now it has come to stand for that party and its views. I personally don't care much for "symbols". Republicans can have the flag. It's just a cloth. When the United States gets back on track and the flag is again revered around the world maybe then Republicans will disavow it and come up with a different one just to show their disdain for this country and what it should be. I still wont care what they pin to their lapels. It's their policies that really define them. This election as a referendum on Republican policies, not one on the flag.

Sorry the above post is a complete LIE. The guest on Meet the Press the program in question on Sept 07, 08 was Joe Biden not Sen. Obama as stated in the above post. Obama couldn't have made that statement since he wasn't on that program. This is another internet hoax completely false.
- 2 votes
Oh yeah.... Almost forgot about the "flag pin" issue. With a failing economy, a war on two fronts, a resurgance of the Taliban, I can see why the flag pin issue should be on the top of my list of concerns!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.
I sure hope so!!!

I was hoping to get a better response on this. Joe Biden was the guest on the day in question. I just wanted to prove that people dont do their own homework. This is a hoax people. I even used something that could be checked on the msnbc website.
Please research the candidates on your own. Dont believe everything you read or hear!

As a candidate for the job of President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama does not want "to appear to be taking sides . . . . with America" Isn't disloyalty to one's own country, especially as the Leader of that country, considered TREASON ??
The following is BHO's very disturbing Direct Quote from Sunday's Televised 'Meet the Press' . . . I think it bears repeating:
"It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren."
What more needs to be known about this man?!? He is VERY DANGEROUS to AMERICA, this is obvious from his OWN WORDS

sad that you can't bring up Bidens BS. It would take you a year to go thru all his "stuff" and yet MSNBC won't go there they would not want to get the facts. Like I said before, Obama is going to have 25% stake in his new media group. OBAMAmsnbc
Alert! Obama to change US flag if he gets into office........ He believes the current flag doesn't represent the global US and the oppressed people in it.

Steve ....where do you get your bogus information? LOL from Rush L?
You should enjoy the interview tonite. Palin will be interviewd with her sponsor/guardian/father McCain making sure she doesn't screw up.
The latest Palin faux pas (fo-paw) has her telling children that ..."the vice president is in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes..."
Palin's claim that the vice president is "in charge of" the Senate has shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the vice presidential role as defined by the US Constitution. The only power specifically outlined in the Constitution for a vice president is to preside over the Senate and have a vote in case of a tie. Period.
Did anyone see the video on You tube? She talked to the third graders with the same condescending voice that she uses in her speeches to Joe BeerCan, you betcha.
The polls are widening. Keep talking Sarah.

Palin is just quite simply, an ignorant dilettante.
It is very embarrassing when an American politician is so completely ignorant of how the country works and who is who and what their Responsibilities are within the chain of command. This is the Person who McCain chose to be his Vice Presidential running mate.. Shocking
